We'll start off acknowledging that there's a different yard stick which measures political narratives from the left than from the right. Sure that's unfair, but that's politics.
Having said that, the left is famously inconsistent in its messaging. In a relatively short time frame, politicians of the left will often argue for and against the same thing - given the prevailing political winds blowing at the time. This is something we accuse centrists of from time to time - which is what defines their 'movement', such as it is.
Understand that there's a huge gap between leftwing activists and politicians/parties of the left. The former seeks to raise awareness of [cause] by various means available, to varying legality of course. The latter seeks to win elections. After all, no left wing cause or programme can see the light of day and bring change until it has the levers of legislative power to do so.
That is the perpetual stand-off between activists and parties claiming to share the same space, where at times the factions of the two camps start to treat each other with a similar hostility as they would for actual opponents.
This is the focus of this blog site. We'll highlight these conflicts and the need to seek out the common ground on the left because our world is too important to leave the debate unchallenged...and its going to make some folks uncomfortable.
The right wing and its allies want control for their reasons. They'll pretend to be an ally of the working class, they'll stoke divisions based on ethnicity, religion and language to keep our folks on the defensive and unable to bring people together.
Its the unity of all people against the powerful puppet masters they fear the most. But we have trouble defining what that looks like; even more so - how we speak that to a public uneasy about institutions, government, politicians, big media and the like.
